Address and Info:
300 E 39th St
Kansas City, MO 64111
Year Built: 1924/1992
Originally, this building was Westport Middle School opened in 1924 as Kansas City’s first purpose-built junior high school. It was a large building with almost 140,000 square feet of space for classrooms, science laboratories, a three-level auditorium, separate gymnasiums for boys and girls and a swimming pool.
KCPS sold Westport Middle School to Sustainable Development Partners Kansas City (SDPKC) on January 27, 2014 for reuse as a mixed-use historic redevelopment. The site, now known as Park39, is a coworking and office space community with event spaces, conference rooms, offices, open desks, and workstations, with 24/7 facility access. Tenants began occupying the building in Spring 2017.
COVID: Masks are still recommended during the event. If you feel sick or ill in any way prior to the event, contact an admin for a full refund.
Directions to KCGameOn hosted at Westport Commons:
The most popular way to get to Westport Commons is via 39th street - coming from both the west (Westport proper) or from the east (about a mile and a half from the I-71/39th street exit). Turn north on Warwick Blvd to access parking areas.
Parking is first come, first serve - the faster you get to the event, the better parking you will get and less distance you have to haul your gear.
Once parked, the entrance is on the west side of the building, under the "Westport Middle School" sign above the large doorway. Once inside the doors, you will meet our crew, who will guide you in from there. Warning: You will have to go down stairs with your gear - there is an elevator for wagons/dollys.
Signs will be posted everywhere but feel free to reach out to nick@kcgameon for further information, if needed.
Since this is an overnight event, all monitors/computers will need to be labeled and matched with your badge to secure your equipment. No gear is allowed to leave between 10pm and 8am for security reasons.
